100% original and un-tampered with! There are many variations among known examples. This plane is no exception. Where there is often a front sole or gage, this plane has a roller. This roller can be set to roll freely, locked, or removed altogether. There is a spline on the fence rod that engages the roller to lock it into place. The front rod is steel while the rear is brass. Both are black with patina. The plane retains 90% of it's original japanning and 10% of it's gold trim. The sole has some pitting. The handle is perfect.
