Cavalry picket pin that accompanied the US Cavalry M1912 “Patton” Sword/Saber. The picket pin was used as a tether point for a cavalryman’s horse after he had secured it in the ground. The hammer head and claw would were used to reset loose or thrown shoes. It came in a leather scabbard usually attached to the saddle. 13 3/4 inches long. Unmarked.
