8 inches long. 2 1/8 inch parallel iron by Hearnshaw. Fine mouth. Rosewood has been repaired. Front bun has nice contrasting sap wood grain. Stewart Spiers (b. 1820-d. 1899) perhaps the finest plane maker that ever existed. His planes were not only the best in quality of construction but also aesthetically pleasing. The Spiers firm operated from 1840-1936.
