A beautiful goniostat with most of its original lacquer and all of its original snarling. Marked in script HOLTZAPFFEL & DEYERLEIN LONDON. This partnership existed 1804-1827. A goniostat is used to precisely hold ornamental turning tools at compound angles for honing. The set includes the original bottles of emery, oilstone, and crocus. Three sliding doors. Each has its own lapping plate, one for each lapping material. The cabinet measures 7 x 9 x 7 inches. Hand dovetailed mahogany with rosewood edge inlay. Note the small crack in the base seen in the final photo. Does not affect use.
