Beautiful chest with heavy brass feet and phenomenal casket-style brass handles. Elaborate interior with dovetailed tills and ornate moulding. 39" wide, 25" deep, 22 1/2" high. Regarding the owner/builder of this chest, Frank Haslach, his father was Frank Sr., an undertaker in Iowa, who emigrated from Bavaria early in the 19th century. Frank Jr. was a carpenter who worked as a cabinetmaker in a planing mill. He was born October 31,1865 in Wapello County, Iowa. He died January 29,1940 in Los Angeles, California.
