An exceptional example with perfect horn stuffing. The original ebony head has its entire ivory ring, and has shrunken to that delightful oval shape that only a 160 year old head can achieve. It has only the tiniest shrinkage crack. The Frame and head are both tight with no wobble. The single ring bit pad operates perfectly. The brass Frame has its share of dings and an honest patina. Just the way you'd like to find a circa 1856-60 tool.
